Mount Washington Alpine Resort

Mount Washington Alpine Resort, Vancouver Island's year-round alpine destination, is just a 30 minute drive from the Comox Valley. Winter activities include downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snow-tubing and tobogganing.

The resort is famous for its 40 kilometers of cross-country trails, and downhill skiers have their choice of numerous chairlifts, including the high speed Eagle Express, which whisks skiers and snowboarders to the mile-high summit in less than six minutes.

You'll find just about everything you need on the mountain, including a restaurant, lounge, shops, equipment rentals and even a Kid's Zone. The resort has an internationally recognized snow school program with special classes for seniors and the disabled. Numerous special events take place throughout the season.

Mount Washington offers Mile High Getaways, as well as travel/ski packages in conjunction with VIA Rail from Victoria.

Fun on the mountain doesn't end once the snow has melted. Trails at the resort lead into the vast wilderness of B.C.'s largest provincial park, Strathcona Park, where you can hand-feed friendly Whiskey Jacks or perhaps catch a glimpse of the endangered Vancouver Island marmot. During the summer, chairlift rides offer breathtaking panoramic views of the Comox Glacier, Mt. Albert Edward, the Strait of Georgia and numerous coastal communities and islands.
